VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Wiregrass Georgia Technical College was recently named among the top in the nation in the 2020 Collegiate Advertising program.
The Collegiate Advertising Awards are an elite program recognizing higher education organizations for excellence in communications, marketing, advertising and promotions of their schools.
Wiregrass’ Marketing and Public Relations team received a gold award for a commercial titled, “Local Heroes,” under the TV-Video Advertising-PSA-Single.
The college was one of five colleges in the nation to receive an award for this category.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has awarded one senior, recognizing her for consistently striving to improve through hard work, goal setting and self-motivation.
Senior Dental Hygiene student Cali McDuffie was awarded the PRIDE Award by Dr. and Mrs. Brad Bynum and North Valdosta Dental Care.
The award stands for performance resulting in distinguished excellence.
As the recipient of this award, McDuffie will receive funding, which will provide cover fees for her written national exam.

The “Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants” aim to address the skill development needs of employers and to support workers in gaining skills and transition quickly from unemployment to employment.

The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) announced the award of $4.85 million to a consortium of Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) colleges to help meet labor market demands for a skilled workforce. The “Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants” aim to address the skill development needs of employers and to support workers in gaining skills and transition quickly from unemployment to employment. The grants also build the capacity of community and technical colleges to address challenges associated with the Coronavirus pandemic, such as expanding online and technology-enabled learning.
