Glass Animals took out the #1 spot and there’s a neat inforgraphic but as is annual tradition, it’s time to pick over all the statistics and trivia in detail. Let’s do it!
66 songs in the countdown came from Australian artists. That’s tied with 2016 as the biggest year for Aussie artists in the Hottest 100! The last three years, it’s been 65 Aussie songs, so it’s nice to finally pip that figure.
Following Glass Animals topping the Hottest 100, we’ve now counted down the other hundred hottest songs of 2020.
The Hottest 200 is the countdown for those wondering ‘where the heck did my other votes go!?’ and the artist who just missed making the main event? None other than Middle Kids.
The Sydney trio’s barrelling ‘R U 4 Me?’ – the lead single from their forthcoming album Today We’re The Greatest – came in at #101.

You’ve gotta feel for ‘em. It’s actually the fourth year in a row they’ve been in the Hottest 200, though ‘Mistake’ made the Hottest 100 of 2018 (at #64) while Paul Dempsey’s Like A Version performance of their breakout single ‘Edge of Town’ came #88 in the Hottest 100 of 2017.
