Police arrest man on tentative attempted homicide charges after victim showed up at hospital with gunshot wound to his chest

Police have arrested a man on tentative attempted homicide charges after a 21-year-old man showed up at a local hospital Thursday night with a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities said the victim was shot during an altercation at a residence in the 300 block of N. Pinckney Street. Xavier J. Bandera, 23, was booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The victim was still hospitalized as of Friday morning. Officers with the Madison Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit, Criminal Intelligence Section, Dane County Narcotics Task Force, community policing teams and patrol officers helped with the investigation.

According to an incident report, police responded to an armed robbery at Starflower Drive and Aster Lane shortly after 2 p.m. Police said people in two separate vehicles had met for a drug transaction. Officials said a 21-year-old man robbed a 19-year-old man of his money and stole his vehicle. The victim and suspect knew each other, according to the report. The police department’s Violent Crime Unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Those with information on the incident are encouraged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608- 266-6014.

Police arrest 3 men, seize guns, drugs, other evidence in connection to violent crime

MADISON, Wis. Madison police and other local law enforcement officer arrested three people Thursday in connection with “recent violent crime.” Officers with the Madison Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit, Dane County Narcotics Task Force and other law enforcement groups arrested the three men at a home in the 5700 block of Russett Road. Dorian L. Watkins, 20, was arrested on tentative charges of recklessly endangering safety, nine counts of felony bail jumping, resisting arrest, battery and possession with intent to deliver cocaine. Authorities said Watkins ran from authorities before they took him into custody. Edward E. Laird, 22, was arrested on tentative charges of disorderly conduct while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of felony bail jumping, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver MDMA, and possession with intent to deliver a Schedule 1 narcotic.
