AeroFarms, a certified B Corporation and leader in indoor vertical farming, today announced the ground breaking of its second commercial indoor vertical farm in Danville-Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
Elected officials from Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville, along with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture Bettina Ring and other state and community leaders, will join AeroFarms representatives for a groundbreaking ceremony this morning to celebrate the beginning of construction of the 136,000 square foot farm.

RINGGOLD, Va. â Elected officials from Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville, along with Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and Virginia Secretary of Agriculture Bettina Ring and other state and community leaders, joined AeroFarms representatives on Thursday for a groundbreaking ceremony for its newest 136,000 square foot indoor vertical farming facility in Ringgold â the worldâs largest aeroponic vertical farm.
AeroFarms, a Certified B Corporation and leader in vertical farming, has developed its own proprietary growing technology to be able to grow produce all year round with annual productivity up to 390 times greater than traditional field farming. Once completed, the new facility, located in the Cane Creek Industrial Centre, will be the largest and most sophisticated aeroponic vertical farm in the world, and is part of AeroFarmsâ expansion plans to address some of our most pressing agriculture and environmental challenges.

The new sculpture will be unveiled May 1
during the inaugural Virginia Farm Festival at The Meadow.
The LOVEwork sculpture is part of DRIVE SMART Virginia’s “Love Clicks” campaign, which reminds vehicle occupants to buckle their seat belts for their loved ones. The Virginia Tourism Corporation’s LOVEworks program is a statewide initiative to promote travel in Virginia and strengthen awareness of the “Virginia is for Lovers” message.

Seven farms have been awarded 2020 Virginia Grand Basin Clean Water Farm Awards.
These awards are presented yearly to farmers or farm owners who are doing exceptional work to protect soil and water resources. One winner is selected from each of the major river basins for the Grand Basin Clean Water Farm Award.
“Virginia farmers are working hard in difficult times to stay in business and feed the world,” said Secretary of Natural Resources Matthew J.
