A guiding hand, a pathway to opportunity: Boys & Girls Club of Wooster Sammy Amier The Boys & Girls Club is not only a guiding hand, but also serves as a pathway to opportunities. My family and I moved to the United States when I was going into sixth grade. I was struggling to grasp the new world I landed in. I had to master a foreign language while trying to learn new content and information I had never even heard before in my home country. Most of my grades plunged into C’s from straight A’s in fifth grade. This is when the Boys & Girls Club of Wooster stepped in, guiding me through this new phase of my life.

The Wilderness Center announces staff awards, appointments The Times-Reporter The Wilderness Center recently announced the staff awards, additions and appointments. Lynda Price, who has been with the center for 25 years, will move into the newly created position of Backyard Habitat Program lead. Price will be responsible for leading science-based Backyard Habitat and native plant programs, creating a Backyard Habitat Certification program and managing the native plant greenhouse. Tiffany Leeper has been appointed to the position of development coordinator. She will coordinate development campaigns, sponsorships, fundraising events and donor relations. Leeper s past experience includes positions with North Union Farmers Market, Wooster Local Foods Cooperative, United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties, Alaska Conservation Foundation and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association.

TWC to celebrate Earth day with run, walk The Times-Reporter The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW, Wilmot, will celebrate Earth Day with a run and walk from 8 a.m. to noon April 24.  Late registration is now open and will run through April 23. Late registration pricing is $50 for the 5K and 10K, $40 for the 10K and one mile run, $40 for the 5K and one mile run, $35 for the 10K, $35 for the 5K, $20 for the one mile run and $10 for the one mile run for ages 10 and younger. Wilderness Center to hold Run Wild!

Wilderness Center to hold Run Wild! The Times-Reporter The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW, Wilmot, will hold its annual Earth Day run, now titled Run Wild!, at 8 a.m. April 24.  Runners will be released every 10 to 15 seconds, beginning with the faster runners first, to avoid any congestion at the start line and ensure that each runner will enjoy a peaceful and socially distanced run along our trails. Start times and additional instructions will be emailed during race week. TWC s Nature Center will be closed to the public during Run Wild! to decrease the risks associated with congregating indoors. Masks will be required. Runners will be permitted to remove them once they are out on the trail.
