Office space has already opened in the massive mixed-use development along I-64.
The pandemic has slowed but not stopped the opening of a high-profile development in midtown St. Louis. City Foundry, along Vandeventer Avenue across from IKEA, is expected to be open midyear.
Or at least, that’s the hope.
“Our tenants are cautiously eager to get in there and get started,” Will Smith said.
Smith is the director of asset management and investments for New + Found. The development company was launched last year by Lawrence Group, which took over the foundry site in 2015.
If the pandemic takes an unexpected turn, Smith said, it could push things back further.

The Princeton Council has accepted the long-awaited Paul Robeson-Wiggins-Hamilton corridor study, which seeks to make improvements to the corridor that would make it safer for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.
While the Princeton Council “accepted” traffic consultant WSP’s report at its Jan. 27 meeting, Mayor Mark Freda said he wanted to make it clear that the council would not make any decisions on the report’s findings and recommendations at the meeting.

ALTON Oasis Women’s Center has been selected to hand out shopping vouchers from MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries.
Each voucher to shop at any Goodwill store is worth $20. Oasis Women’s Center will receive two vouchers initially.
“We took a look at each shelter of 29 total and whatever their capacity is, and gave them two vouchers,” said MERS Goodwill’s David Kutchback, president and chief executive officer. “We’re sending about $45,000 in vouchers to those shelters.
“If a shelter needs more, then they can call us, and we’ll continue to send out vouchers until we reach that $75,000,” he said. “We want to partner with that shelter to ID what their particular need is, and as they continue to get back with us, we’ll continue to meet the individual needs of those they serve.”
Council to vote tonight to make Witherspoon Street one-way change permanent
Witherspoon Street on Monday morning.
The Princeton Council will hold a virtual public hearing tonight, Dec. 21, on plans to make Witherspoon Street a one-way street for good.
Business owners along the affected stretch of Witherspoon Steet are divided about the proposal, with retail business owners and “grab and go” eateries opposing the move, and sit-down restaurant owners supporting it. Landlords who own property along the stretch of the street that will be affected are divided on the issue.
Some residents wanted the road to be closed and turned into a pedestrian-only plaza. Others wanted the street to remain a two-way street. Officials said the compromise they decided on was to keep the street one way. Some residents say the move to a one-way street will be a win for pedestrians, and that the town should put pedestrians first.
