Winchester approves COVID-19 Small Business Relief Program

(LEX 18) — As small businesses continue to face financial challenges due to the pandemic, the city of Winchester is helping its community by creating a COVID-19 Small Business Relief Program. Any of the Governor s orders that were handed down from Frankfort, if they impacted that business and caused them financial hardships. They had to close. They had to restrict or curb their services due to that, then they are eligible, said City Manager Michael Flynn. The city budgeted $50,000 for the program. Full-time businesses within city limits can apply to receive up to $1,000. Part-time businesses could get up to $400.

Final Recipients of the Galesburg COVID-9 Relief Grant Program Announced

January 21, 2021 The City of Galesburg is set to announce the recipients of the Galesburg COVID-19 Relief Program. In December, Galesburg officially announced the creation of the Galesburg COVID-19 Small Business Relief Program. The fund is comprised of $250,000 in funding from the State of Illinois and $250,000 in funding from the City of Galesburg. Thirty-five Galesburg businesses will receive between $5,000 and $25,000 in grant funding to help cover losses incurred due to the pandemic. Priority for the program was to aid small businesses in the restaurant, retail, bar, spa, and salon industries that could demonstrate losses caused by the pandemic. Recipients receiving $25,000 in grants include the Orpheum Theatre and Discovery Depot Children’s Museum. Some of the businesses receiving $20,000 include Baked Pizzas, Innkeepers, The Taco Hideout, and Iron Spike Brewing Company among others. City council considers advancing South Guadalupe Street Improvement Project

Monday, January 18, 2021 The San Marcos City Council will vote on awarding two construction projects for the South Guadalupe Street Improvement Project.  They are both slated to be awarded to New Age General Contractors, Inc. One for bike lane traffic signals in an estimated amount of $183K and another to the same group for sidewalk and landscaping, estimated at $793K. The council will also vote on an organization to award the Community Development Block Grant- Coronavirus Response (CDBG-CV) round three funding of $567K for the design and administration of a COVID-19 Emergency Housing and Business Relief Program. Applications from Community Action Inc. and BR3T as well as the Veteran Services Office and the HOME center are being considered although city staff recommends awarding the contract to Community Action, with the stipulation that a minimum of $454K be awarded to beneficiaries of the program.
