BUSINESSES in Cheshire West that were forced to close during the national lockdown are being told there is still time to apply for grant cash. Cheshire West and Chester Council is reminding local companies that they can still benefit from the Restart Grants Scheme. Under the scheme, borough businesses could be entitled to thousands of pounds worth of government grant funding to help them get back up and running following lockdown. The grants are for businesses that were forced to close during national lockdown and those that remained open. It is a one-off payment being distributed by the council. There are two types of grant available. Strand One is for non-essential businesses which could receive a grant of up to £6,000 based on their rateable value.

Pleas - the two firms and Mr Aylen DESPERATE business owners say they are on their knees over delays in business support grants needed to keep them afloat. Companies claim they have not had payments from Southend Council since November and are struggling to pay rents as a result. Carrie Blood, 47, owner Lady Pirates tattoo studio in Leigh says her health has suffered from the stress of keeping her business afloat. The mum-of-three said: “It’s been really stressful. I’m going to see a cardiologist over palpitations that I’ve been getting. “I’m supposed to get £664 every two weeks and then in the national lockdown we should get an extra one-off payment of £4,000.
The province processed about 10,000 Small Business Support Grant applications on the program’s first day.
Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development said 42,000 applications have been received for the program since last Friday.
Minister Fideli added that the province hopes to get the $10,000 to $20,000 one-time funding out to those who successfully applied last Friday in the next few days.
To apply for the money owners must have had to close down or severely restrict the operation of their business because of the province-wide shutdown.
They must also demonstrate a 20-percent decline in revenue between April 2019 and April 2020.
