Back roads are taking a beating The latest detours aren t costing drivers much additional time, but they are taking a toll on local roads. We re tearing some of these roads up. We re beating them to death, said Glen Black, Northwestern School District s bus garage manager. They were not intended for a lot of traffic. Six of the district s 24 bus routes have been re-routed because of the demise of the Route 215 bridge. Most buses on those routes now are using the McKee Road bridge over the interstate about 1½ miles to the west. They re also driving Stoker Road between Route 215 and McKee.
