COLUMBUS, Ohio — The city of Columbus has agreed to pay $10 million to the family of André Hill, an unarmed Black man fatally shot by former Columbus police officer
Wright is among a team representing the Hill family, including nationally known civil rights attorney Ben Crump.
“The Hill family and their legal team, attorneys Ben Crump, Richard W. Schulte, and Michael Wright, want to thank the City of Columbus and its leaders for doing the right thing, the attorneys said in a joint statement. By agreeing to a financial resolution with the family and renaming the Brentnell Community Center Gymnasium after Andre Hill, now all those involved can begin to heal.”
The Hill family and attorneys have rescheduled a press conference for 3 p.m. Downtown. The Dispatch will be present and will update this story.

Fried Chicken Showdown: The Crispy Coop and Meshikou Chikin
Fried chicken is at it again. Everywhere you look, a new restaurant concept dedicated to the bird is opening in Columbus. Here are two to check out.
The Crispy Coop had a generous head start on the current fried chicken boom. Its origins start at The Buena Vista Café in Warren, Ohio. There, the 65-year-old restaurant serves something iconic in Northeast Ohio: Uncle Nick’s Greek Fried Chicken. A fan of its chicken while growing up near Youngstown, Drew Cleary brought an Uncle Nick’s franchise down to Columbus more than five years ago, opening up a no-frills spot in Grandview.
How McClellan s Pub is staying resilient even as business tanks

In January and February of 2020, McClellan’s Pub had its best two months since the northwest Columbus bar and eatery opened on Sawmill Road in 2014. Then, in early March, co-owners Amy Schirtzinger and Brent McClellan looked to build on that success by gearing up for one of the biggest days of the year.
For McClellan’s, an “American pub with Irish inspiration” that prides itself on its whiskey selection, St. Patrick’s Day is a huge annual event. In advance of the March 17 celebration, Schirtzinger says the bar purchased a ton of food and alcohol. Then, on March 15, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced a statewide stay-at-home order.
