The 12th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta Race kicked off between Bettendorf High School, Pleasant Valley High School and North Scott High School engineering classes. The students worked in teams to create a boat out of cardboard to make it all the way around the Bettendorf Middle Park lagoon.

Johnstons has received a prestigious award in the Sustainable Development category, it was announced today. This is the fourth such award for Johnstons, which previously landed the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement in 1978, 1994 and 2002. As well as its centuries-old approach to working with natural, renewable, and biodegradable fibres, Johnstons has been praised for its commitment to limiting environmental impact, animal welfare and its people.

Same-sex marriage was legalised in Scotland in 2014, when Ross was in the early stages of his political career on Moray council. According to the Northern Scot newspaper, local figures were interviewed about the historic victory for LGBT+ rights. The newspaper reported that “the Conservative councillor said he would personally have voted against the bill”, and Ross was quoted as saying: “If we are to recognise the momentous achievement, we should also recognise the hundreds of thousands of people who oppose this legislation.”
