Shooting in Springfield leaves one person dead and another in custody

A woman is dead after a shooting Friday near Dubois Elementary and Sacred Heart-Griffin High. Springfield Police responded to a shots fired call in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue just before noon. “Upon arrival, it was clear by our officers that there was a deceased victim and another individual who was armed with a handgun,” said SPD assistant chief of police Ken Scarlette. “After several tense moments of negotiations, several members of our emergency response team and other officers were able to utilize less lethal [force] and take the subject into custody.” Local police contacted officials at Dubois Elementary and Sacred Heart-Griffin High, as both schools were placed under brief lockdowns that had been lifted by 12:45 p.m.

(KLKN) A wanted man was found with several items related to the act of selling drugs in North Lincoln, reports local authorities. Thursday, just before 2 pm, investigators spotted 26-year-old Jaden Reiman in the passenger seat of a black Jeep Cherokee, near the intersection of 56th and St. Paul Ave. The investigators knew Reiman was wanted on two outstanding felony warrants, so they immediately took him into custody. More than $2,400 was found in his coat pocket along with a glass pipe with meth residue, reports authorities. After searching the Jeep, a lockbox was found on the passenger-side floorboard. Inside was 175 grams of marijuana, a scale, and several plastic bags.
