Pocatello water line installation begins Monday Published Pocatello water line installation begins Monday POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - City of Pocatello Water Department crews will begin the process of replacing water main lines Monday on North Lincoln Avenue, North Buchanan Avenue and West Custer Street. The project area will include the 900 and 1000 blocks of North Lincoln Avenue, 800 through 1000 blocks of North Buchanan Avenue, and the 800 and 900 blocks of West Custer Street. Crews will work between the hours of 7 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. During the project, access to the construction area will be restricted and sections of the street will be completely closed while workers are digging; however, every effort will be made to provide local access to the area when possible. Parking will also be restricted in the construction zone and residents are asked to park all vehicles away from the area during the day.

Shooting in Springfield leaves one person dead and another in custody

A woman is dead after a shooting Friday near Dubois Elementary and Sacred Heart-Griffin High. Springfield Police responded to a shots fired call in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue just before noon. “Upon arrival, it was clear by our officers that there was a deceased victim and another individual who was armed with a handgun,” said SPD assistant chief of police Ken Scarlette. “After several tense moments of negotiations, several members of our emergency response team and other officers were able to utilize less lethal [force] and take the subject into custody.” Local police contacted officials at Dubois Elementary and Sacred Heart-Griffin High, as both schools were placed under brief lockdowns that had been lifted by 12:45 p.m.  

Catalytic converter, spare tire thefts reported on the North Side

Getty Images Police are warning residents of a recent string of catalytic converter and spare tire thefts reported in Lincoln Park, Old Town Triangle and Gold Coast. In each incident, people cut off and removed the catalytic converter or spare tire from a parked vehicle, Chicago police said. The thefts happened: In the evening hours of March 31 and morning hours of April 2 in the 2100 block of North Lincoln Park West; In the morning hours of April 2 in the 1800 block of North Lincoln Avenue; In the early morning hours of April 7 in the 1300 block of North Lake Shore Drive; In the evening hours of April 8 in the 2100 block of North Magnolia Avenue; and
