9 shot, 3 killed Wednesday in Chicago

CHICAGO - Three people were killed and six more were wounded Wednesday in shootings across Chicago.
The day’s latest fatal attack left a 22-year-old man dead in Humboldt Park on the West Side. The man was traveling in a car about 2:45 p.m. when someone opened fire at him near North and Kedzie avenues, Chicago police said. He was struck in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Early Wednesday morning, two men were killed in a shooting in Gresham on the South Side. A gunman fired shots from a silver-colored vehicle about 5 a.m. in the 800 block of West 75th Street, police said. A 28-year-old man was shot in his head inside a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, 31, was shot in his arm and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Hours later, he died from his wounds.

The 33-year-old was shot in the head about 4:20 p.m. in the 200 block of East 69th Place, Chicago police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t yet released details on the death.
In non-fatal shootings, a man was shot during an argument in Austin on the West Side. The 27-year-old was shot in the leg about 10:15 p.m. while arguing with another male outside in the 100 blocks of North Central Avenue, police said. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.

Five people were shot, one of them fatally, Tuesday in Chicago, including a man who was shot to death inside a restaurant in Austin on the West Side.
About 6:40 p.m., someone walked into the restaurant in the 5500 block of West Chicago Avenue, pulled out a gun and fired shots at a 30-year-old man inside, Chicago police said. The man was struck in the chest and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not identified the man.
In non-fatal shootings, a man was shot in Englewood on the South Side. The man, 26, was outside on a porch about 7:40 p.m. in the 400 block of West Normal Parkway when someone fired shots, striking him multiple times in the lower body, police said. A relative brought the man to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was in fair condition. He told officers he didn’t see the shooter or know where the shots came from.
A Sidney man is facing two counts of possessing toxic substances, after police say they found him with large quantities of Dust Off, a product commonly used for huffing.
Hunter William Knels, 21, was arrested on the two allegations on Dec. 1 and 2, on back to back days.
According to the police report, Sidney Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Central Avenue after a report that a white male had purchased a large quantity of Dust Off.
Officers found Knels in the driverâs seat of his car, holding a can of Dust Off, not far from where heâd purchased the product.
