GEORGE TOWN, July 13 The Department of Environment (DoE) has returned a container to its country of origin, the United States, after it was found to have brought in e-waste without prior informed consent.
According to a statement from Penang DoE director Sharifah Zakiah Syed Sahab, an order was issued for the container to be sent back after DoE and Customs officers inspected the container at the North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT) yesterday.

PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) handed over almost 10 tonnes of confiscated frozen meat to Zoo Negara.
Maqis, in a statement Thursday (May 6), said the contribution involved nine tonnes of frozen chicken worth RM72,000 and 520kg of frozen buffalo meat worth RM6,000, involving cases from January to March.
The frozen chicken meat was detained during an attempt to bring them in from a neighbouring country to Malaysia via Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah while the frozen buffalo meat from India was brought in through the North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT), Penang.
