About 40% of all food produced for U.S. consumption, about 63 million tons, ends up in the waste stream, occupying a lot of space and generating a lot of methane gas into the atmosphere.

Mar 01, 2021 Saranac Lake is among the many cities and towns across the US marking Monday, Mar. 1 as COVID-19 Memorial Day to honor the victims of the pandemic. There are no events scheduled today in the village because of the pandemic. Mayor Clyde Rabideau says it s hard to grasp the impact COVID has had on the village, but he is feeling hopeful for the future.
