Newlands Corner THE LOW-DOWN: This Surrey beauty spot has stunning views over the Surrey Hills and a very special grove of ancient yew trees. It was made famous when crime writer Agatha Christie disappeared from here in 1926. It has a café, toilets, and a small visitor centre. There is an easy access short walk suitable for families, or you could just take in the view with an ice cream. The area is popular for kite flying too. The West Cornwall Way cycle route launches in September

Picture Dave Griffiths/VisitCornwall A BRAND new 150-mile cycle route for Cornwall that will take in some the county s stunning scenery and industrial heritage has been announced. The West Kernow Way, is ready for launch in September and begins and ends in Penzance. It is designed to be ridden over three to four days. It will take in many of the highlights of the western half of the Cornish peninsular, including the Botallack tin mines, the Bronze Age monument Mên-an-Tol, Land’s End, St Michael’s Mount and Lizard Point. The charity Cycling UK has been working for over a year on developing the route, speaking with landowners while plotting and reccying a route using bridleways, byways and quiet stretches of country roads.
