IPOH: The Perak government will revive the Commonwealth Youth City project in Tanjung Malim that was shelved during Pakatan Harapan’s rule.
Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said the project that was implemented under former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir’s administration, was part of plans for the Southern Perak Development Corridor.
“That plan was suspended after the new state government took over in 2018 and with its own policies introduced at that time, the project was shelved.
“Coincidently, when I was appointed Menteri Besar, the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), which before this only focused on development in North Perak, agreed to expand its plans to the south as well.

THE Federal Government has approved a total of RM10mil to develop the Guar Kepah Archaeological Site in Kepala Batas, Penang.
Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI) deputy general manager S. Bharathi said the allocation was approved through the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) in December last year. CMI is a state investment arm.
She, however, said the site needed more funds to become a gallery complete with interactive and smart technologies with 3D elements.
“Currently, the RM10mil will be used to build a proper gallery at the site, where actual development work will commence by early next year.
“The overall budget will be sufficient to build a heritage gallery, but it will not be enough for additional features such as interactive panels, green technology and 3D elements.
