May 10, 2021 NORTH JACKSON Ernest G. Earl, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully and with God on Thursday afternoon, May 6, 2021. Ernie was born Feb. 24, 1947, and was the son of Ernest G. Earl Sr. and Mary Lou Rodi Earl and the brother of Robert Earl, all of whom have preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and resided in North Jackson for nearly 50 years in a home that he loved, cherished and spent so much of his life enjoying. He was the proud father and survived by three children, Lisa of Pittsburgh, Pa., Kim of Youngstown and Maxwell of Niles, and was the grandfather to Macie Jude Wahal, also of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Carol Alcorn LORDSTOWN Carol Ann Alcorn, 76, passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 7, 2021, at her home in Lordstown, with her loving and attentive husband, Richard, at her side. Carol was born on Dec. 25, 1944, in North Braddock, Pa., to Martin and Clara Hofer. The summers of her youth were spent enjoying the family cottage and the lake at Edinboro, Pa., with her parents, sisters and large extended family. She attended St. Colman School in Turtle Creek, Pa., and graduated from Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pa., with an emphasis on stenography and office administration. Carol married Richard W. Alcorn Jr. on Nov. 27, 1965, raised a family and enjoyed 55 years of life adventures together. She had a short career as an executive secretary for the Alcoa Corporation prior to the birth of her children.

May 6, 2021 YOUNGSTOWN David J. “Dave” Crincic, 65, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Monday evening, May 3, 2021, at his home. Dave was born May 12, 1955, in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Helen Petro Crincic. He grew up in Austintown, was a 1973 graduate of Fitch High School, and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Crincic worked for Indelex / Easco Aluminum in Girard and then for Extrudex Aluminum in North Jackson, and retired in 2018. He was a citizens band and ham radio enthusiast. His CB radio call sign was “Old Dirt” and he operated his ham radio under the call sign KB8JHB. Dave enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, swap meets and car shows, and he enjoyed restoring his Chevy Stepside pickup truck.

Truck rolls against turnpike bridge | News, Sports, Jobs

May 5, 2021 NORTH JACKSON A dump truck rolled over against an Ohio Turnpike bridge in North Jackson early Tuesday with turnpike engineers called to make sure there is no major damage to the overpass. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported the truck rolled and struck the overpass abutment on Mahoning Avenue beneath the turnpike ramp before 10:30 a.m. The truck driver had minor injuries. Softball s postseason begins next week | Feature Story

AHSAA softball postseason play begins next week across the state with area tournaments. Four Jackson County teams will host area tournaments, with Skyline hosting the Class 1A Area 15 Tournament, Pisgah hosting the 2A Area 15 Tournament, North Jackson hosting the 4A Area 14 Tournament and Scottsboro hosting the 6A Area 15 Tournament. Area tournament champions and runners-up both advance to play in the North Softball Regional May 12-15 at Coffee O’Neal Park in Florence.
