The lacrosse world descends upon Hartford, Conn., this weekend for the greatest stage in the sport: Championship Weekend. On the DI side, only four teams remain standing and bye nightfall on Monday, only one will call themselves champions to end, perhaps, the toughest and most challenging lacrosse season ever.
No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels will take on the No. 4 Virginia Cavaliers in the first semifinals contest on Saturday afternoon.
How Did They Get There?
Virginia dominated Georgetown 14-3 in their quarterfinal matchup to punch their ticket to Championship Weekend. The Cavaliers beat Bryant 13-11 in the first round.

The North Carolina Tar Heels won a share of the ACC championship, topping Duke 15-12 in front of 4,050 fans at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Sunday afternoon.
The game was effectively decided in the second quarter. The Heels dominated possession early, largely on the back of winning 12-of-16 first half face-offs, parlaying that advantage into a 22-4 shot edge in the second quarter, when they turned a 4-3 Duke lead at the end of the first quarter into a 10-4 Tar Heel lead at halftime. They picked up 13 groundballs in the second period to Duke’s one.

The NFL holds its annual draft starting Thursday, April 29, in Cleveland, and the festivities will run through Saturday. As always, there are some star college football players with strong military connections in their families, so this year we decided to highlight a few of these young men.
The first three on the list have worked with USAA, the NFL’s Salute to Service partner, to tell their stories in advance of the draft, and we’ve included links to their videos below.

It was reasonable to expect Denver to come out like the sharper team vs. North Carolina on Sunday a.m. Quint said as much on the broadcast.
