Additionally, contractors and medical students not vaccinated will not be allowed to work at the hospital.
âWeâre starting to see just marked increases in sick providers, sick care givers, sick community members and patients in hospitals around the country, not just in North Carolina,â said Jessie Tucker, president and chief executive officer of Wayne UNC Health Care.
The policy took effect Friday.
Tucker said an increasing number of hospitals throughout the country have similar mandates regarding vaccines.
âThis is not just a Goldsboro issue, which is why youâre seeing hospitals around the nation make this very difficult decision over the past two days,â Tucker said. âYouâre going to be hard pressed to find a hospital or system thatâs not going to be forced to do this just for public safety and to be able to keep their teams engaged and keep them healthy and keep them from getting sick.â
