US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden’s trip to Rehoboth Beach, Del, this week is to celebrate the first lady’s 70th birthday.
She turns 70 on Thursday and the couple is leaving for their midweek getaway to the beach town on Wednesday. They are scheduled to leave the White House for Rehoboth at 5:15 p.m. US time and arrive an hour later, The Hill reports.
The president will depart for the trip following his high-profile meeting with Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) to further negotiate the infrastructure package.
They are then set to remain in Rehoboth until Friday. The trip is the Bidens first trip to Rehoboth since the inauguration.
