The Sawyer Free Library is now open for select onsite services, six days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m. Visitors should keep visits to 30 minutes or less. The library has implemented extensive preventative measures and controls to keep staff and patrons as safe as possible. All staff and visitors must wear masks, practice physical distancing and all public spaces have limited capacities.
Express Public Computer Stations are available first-come-first-served for 30-minute sessions. People needing public computer access for more extended periods may check out a Chrome Book or an App Sampler Tablet along with a three-hour Wireless Hot-Spot.

WELLESLEY, MA A MassBay paramedicine student is the newest recruit to the Wellesley Fire Department.
James Cassidy of Holliston joined MassBay s Paramedicine program in January 2020. He is one of seven new firefighters recently hired by the Wellesley Fire Department.
Cassidy started his higher education at MassBay to follow in his brother s footsteps and discover his passion. Cassidy told MassBay that his interest in becoming a first-responder was sparked after several friends joined local firehouses. I knew that training as an EMT and paramedic would provide me with a great foundational skill set.

They never worked together, but they had a lot in common. Jose Ferreira and Juber Lopez were both immigrants, hardworking, longtime BU custodians with large families, humble and well-liked by all. They shared one more thing: both died of complications from COVID-19 at the end of January.
Ferreira joined BU Facilities Management & Operations (FM&O) as a part-time custodian in late 1985 and within months was hired to work full-time at the George Sherman Union, where he had been ever since. Known as Joe, he had been battling cancer for several years. He died January 31 at CHA Everett Hospital at age 63.

MIAMI, FL – Residents of Miami-Dade County now have improved access to compassionate end-of-life care through VITAS Healthcare’s newly constructed inpatient hospice unit (IPU) at MedSquare in Kendall, located at 9408 SW 87th Ave., Suite 107, Miami, FL, 33176.

After adding more surge capacity for the third time last week, doctors and mathematicians at Massachusetts General Hospital say they’re beginning to ebb out of the second COVID surge, and expect to see a decrease in hospital admissions over the next few weeks.
“We’re in the midst of, or maybe towards the end of, the peak of the plateau phase, and projecting a downward trend from the end of the month on,” said Dr. Peter Dunn, vice president of procedural services, health care system engineering and capacity management.
