The BBC has unveiled a brand new competition series showcasing tractor-driving talent
Young farmers across the UK will showcase their tractor-driving talents as part of a new TV series to be broadcast on BBC Three.
Provisionally titled The Fast And The Farmer(ish) will provide a glimpse into the lives of young farmers and their tractors.
Presented by Tom Pemberton, each episode of this 7x30 series pits two teams of farmers and their ‘souped up’ tractors against each other.
The programme will present imaginative challenges that puts their driving skill and vehicle power to the test.

Top Gear, young farmers will star in a new TV show that puts their tractor driving skills to the test.
Teams of young farmers from across the UK will compete in a series of challenges for the chance to be named champions.
The competition will test tractor power and the driver’s handling skills.
The Fast and the Farmer(ish), commissioned by BBC Three and BBC Northern Ireland, will hit the screens later this year.
The creators said the show would offer a glimpse into the lives of young farmers and showcase their talent behind the wheel.

The Fast And The Farmer(ish) will provide “a glimpse into the lives of young farmers in an entertaining new competitive series”, a statement from the broadcaster said. It is the first commission to come out of BBC Three’s partnership with BBC Northern Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen. The seven-part series, which will be presented by Tom Pemberton, will see two teams compete against each other in tractors in a series of driving challenges. It has been created by the production company Alleycats. Eddie Doyle, head of content commissioning at BBC Northern Ireland, said: “Alleycats have done an amazing job with The Fast And The Farmer(ish), showing how rural competitiveness can be converted into high-octane entertainment that fits perfectly with BBC Three’s core brand.

NI partnership bears fruit for BBC3
Pubcaster BBC3 in the UK has commissioned its first show to come out of the partnership between BBC Northern Ireland and funding agency Northern Ireland Screen, announced last November.

After two commissioning rounds with submissions from local companies and a pilot episode, BBC3 has ordered a factual format working-titled The Fast & the Farmer(ish) from Londonderry prodco Alleycats.
The show was chosen over Scran With My Nan, which features celebrities going to eat at their grandmothers’ houses and receiving life lessons as well as food. The pilot has been uploaded to BBC iPlayer.
