THREE OAKS â The final scene of âPrancerâ shows the magical reindeer joining the team pulling Santaâs sleigh through the sky, followed by an aerial view of a village that looks a lot like Three Oaks.
Much of John Hancockâs 1989 Christmas tale (which starred Sam Elliott, Chloris Leachman, Abe Vigoda and Rebecca Harrell) was filmed in Three Oaks and the nearby New Carlisle area.
But the community that Prancer and all of the other reindeer fly over before the end credits begin to roll was a model that still exists â in Three Oaks.

A suspected porch pirate accused of stealing packages from 16 Metairie residences is behind bars after leading Jefferson Parish sheriff s deputies on a car chase.Â
Christopher Flowers, 27, of Metairie was booked with more than a dozen counts of theft and with other charges related to the pursuit, said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesman for the Sheriff s Office.
