Steven Franklin Brooks went to meet our Lord on Monday, April 26th, 2021. He was 58. He passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center, COVID19 Intensive Care Unit.
Steve was born December 3rd, 1962, to Sandy and Earl Brooks. Steve attended high school at Daniel Boone High School in Washington County, Tennessee and played trumpet in the Daniel Boone Trailblazer Band. He received his associate degree from Northeast State Community College.
On September 29th, 2003, Steve took on the role of Assistant Manager of Contact Center Operations, with DIALAMERICA. This is where he would meet and then marry the love of his life. Sheila Sanders Brooks, on October 27th, 2019.
On Friday April 23rd, 2021, Diana Whitson-Thompson, loving wife and mother of 3, went home to be with the lord. Diana, age 54, was a native and life-long resident of Unicoi County and a member of Unicoi United Methodist Church. Diana was born on February 17th, 1967 to Diane Neas Whitson and Zane Carol Whitson Jr. She was a member of the 1985 graduating class of Unicoi County High School, after which she pursued a bachelorâs degree in political science and German at East Tennessee State University. She then continued her education at ETSU earning a masterâs degree in Education. She then finished her education, earning the title of education specialist in school leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.

It is designed to ignite students’ motivations for attending college. Find Your Why seeks to ensure students from the Class of 2021 feel both heard and supported during this unprecedented year. With Tennessee’s community colleges experiencing a 19 percent decrease in fall enrollment, TNAchieves created Find Your Why to empower and inspire its students while also highlighting the importance of earning a college credential.
