Around 115 tribal students of class ninth to 12th had returned to their hostels last month. MUMBAI: All government and private student hostels in Maharashtra s Palghar district have been directed to be shut down from next week after 30 residential students test positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. The total number of hostel students who have tested positive since last week has gone up to 68. On Tuesday, 30 students and a teacher of the Nandore tribal hostel tested positive. Nine girl students have been kept under observation in a government hospital. The rest have been quarantined in the hostel. The parents of the remaining 160 students have been informed to take away their children.

According to Dr Surekha Walke, Medical Health Officer, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, the man on Friday fell on the ground while waiting to register for the vaccine, and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. A 63-year-old man, Harish Bhai Panchal, was standing in a queue outside a center in Nalasopara West for registration around 9:30 am on Friday. He suddenly started feeling uneasy and fell on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead, she said.
