KUCHING: Rural folk in Sarawak will have easier access to banking services following the launch of a mobile bank initiative by the state government.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the initiative involved four banks - Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), Bank Rakyat, AgroBank and RHB Bank.
He said BSN would serve rural settlements in Sebauh and Sungai Asap, Bank Rakyat in Sebauh, Tatau, Sungai Asap and Belaga, AgroBank in Padawan, Bau, Lundu, Sematan, Lingga, Pantu, Tebedu, Asajaya and Sebuyau and RHB Bank in Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Balingian, Oya and Igan.

SARAWAK Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg has launched mobile banking services for rural residents in the state.
Speaking to the media after the launching ceremony today, Abang Johari said the scheme was costing the Sarawak government RM1.6 million, including RM200,000 to four banks – Bank Rakyat, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), Agro Bank and RHB Bank – to subsidise the purchase of armoured vehicles, each worth RM500,000.

MyMy revealed on Monday (April 26, 2021) that it has obtained conditional approval for a large scheme E-money license from
Bank Negara Malaysia, the nation’s central bank. The Fintech firm is now planning to launch its digital wallet services in the coming year.
Until all required conditions are met (as specified by Bank Negara), MyMy will remain reserved regarding its plans for its complete product offering, according to the company’s anouncement.
The MyMy team noted that there are many digital wallet providers currently in the market, which is why they intend to offer additional services.
