‘Everyone deserves a second chance’: Fak Kurba launches 2021 campaign By: Times News Service Muscat: Fak Kurba has launched its 2021 campaign to help raise funds to secure the release of prisoners who have been jailed in Oman for non-criminal offences.  Organised by the Omani Lawyers Association, the initiative, which saw more than 800 prisoners released last year, helps secure legal representation for people who are financially weak, and in jail for crimes relating to civil, commercial, legal and labour-based issues. “Believing in social solidarity, and in order to consolidate community cohesion, and deepening human, Islamic and patriotic values of cooperation and solidarity for the public interest, we are pleased to launch the eighth edition of the humanitarian initiative, Fak Kurba, for 2021,” said Laila Al Najjar, the Minister of Social Development.

Through this service, Bank Muscat acts as an escrow agent, which accepts all funds and then releases these funds in accordance with the progress of a real-estate project and as per the terms of the escrow agreement in line with Royal Decree 30/2018, Ministerial Decision 72/2019 issued by the Ministry of Housing and other regulatory norms.

Oman s share index ends marginally higher By: United Securities Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,696.63 points, up 0.81 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.40 per cent at 525.99 points. Al Madina Investment, up 9.52 per cent, was the top gainer today while Sohar Power, down 10.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. A total number of 1,284 trades were executed during the day s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.76 million, with more than 34 million shares changing hands. Out of 52 traded stocks, 22 advanced, 5 declined and 25 remained unchanged. At the session close, Local investors were net buyers for OMR552,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR393,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR160,000 worth of shares.
