The non-performing assets (NPAs) of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) in India have come down to Rs7,56,560 crore (Rs7.56 lakh crore) from Rs10.36 lakh crore as on March 2018. At the same time, over the past three years, banks have recovered Rs3.68 lakh crore, including recovery of Rs68,219 crore from written-off loan accounts, the Lok Sabha was informed.
Rama Devi, a member of Parliament (MP) had asked a question on written-off bank loans and recovery. Replying to this, Anurag Thakur, minister of state for finance, says, .as a result of government’s strategy of recognition, resolution, recapitalisation and reforms, gross NPAs of SCBs have since declined by Rs2.79 lakh crore to Rs7.56 lakh crore as per provisional data on 31 December 2020.

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has initiated proceedings against National Stock Exchange (NSE) in the Karvy Stock Broking Ltd (Karvy or KSBL) default matter, the Lok Sabha was informed.
Replying to a question, Anurag Thakur, minister of state for finance, says, SEBI has initiated proceedings against NSE in the matter of KSBL for violating provisions of SEBI circulars pertaining to monitoring of brokers and oversight of members.
Further, SEBI has already initiated the action against the directors and key management personnel (KMP) of KSBL as per the provisions of SEBI Act, 1992, Securities Contract Regulation Act, 1956, SEBI (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices relating to Securities Market) Regulations, 2003 and SEBI (Stock Brokers) Regulation, 1992, the minister says.

Low interest rates, along with pent-up demand, especially for utility vehicles (UVs), accelerated domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales in February on both year-on-year (y-o-y) and sequential basis. According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) PV sales increased 17.92% during February 2021.
During the month, passenger car sales inched 4.43% to 155,128 from 148,541 units a year-ago period, while UV sales jumped 45.35% to 114,350 units from 78,674 units. Sales of vans increased by 4.34% to 11,902 units during February this year. Total sales in PV segment witnessed an increase of 17.92% to 281,380 units compared with 238,622 units in February 2020.
