A popular BBQ restaurant is expanding to east Montgomery.
Managing Partner Bob Parker confirmed with Alabama News Network that Dreamland BBQ has purchased the former Shrimp Basket location at the corner of Vaughn Road and Taylor Road in Sturbridge.
Parker says the new location will reach more than their usual clientele that frequent their downtown location.
“We realize the things that really made us successful downtown are kind of hurting us right now,” Parker said. “We are not operating near residents; people are not traveling as much into the downtown area to see the conventions, military is not moving around, and we lost baseball, so we decided we need to be near people.”

Montgomery police have arrested to men in connection to a robbery and kidnapping. Hikeem Edmond, 22, and Kylyn Taylor, 20, are the suspects identified in this case.
On January 29, police responded to a call in the 5200 block of Vaughn Road in reference to a robbery and kidnapping. Shortly after, police located the suspect’s vehicle. When the vehicle refused to stop, a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, a marked MPD vehicle collided with a pole at American Car Center located at 190 Eastern Boulevard. The officer suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Officers were able take Edmond and Taylor into custody at the scene. They were placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Usually, the wait time at an urgent care in Montgomery can be as short as five minutes, but as COVID-19 infections continue to increase, the wait time for some can be as long as six hours.
Dr. Dixie Kidd, a family medicine specialist with the American Family Care clinic at The Shoppes at EastChase, said a COVID-19 spike brought on by the holidays is sending their clinic into overdrive.
“Over the past few weeks, we have been inundated with patients,” Kidd said. “It started with Thanksgiving, but now with Christmas, New Years’, and all the kids coming home from college, we’ve got lots and lots of patients.”

TERREBONNE, Ore. (KTVZ) – A Madras man caught during a manhunt that also captured a Madras murder suspect shot at a Redmond woman as he stole her boyfriend’s pickup and later entered a home and pointed a gun at the homeowner, who locked herself in a bathroom with her kids, authorities said.
Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies released more details Tuesday about the events leading up to Monday’s chase, crash and manhunt east of Smith Rock that led to the arrest of Thomas David Cross, and Jenna Rae Campbell, both 21.
