LABUAN: Labuan has launched a drive-through vaccination exercise yesterday to speed up its immunisation programme ahead of its target of achieving herd immunity by end of this month.

(pix) said currently the drive-through located at University Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus’ (UMSKAL) parking lot is limited to second dose recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
“We expect the turnout will be significant beginning July 8, as most of the first dose recipients should get their second shot as close to the recommended three-week interval as possible,” he told Bernama at the launching site here yesterday.

Health personnel conducting mass Covid-19 active case detection (ACD) at the Refugee Community Settlement Scheme in Kampung Muslim, Labuan.
LABUAN: Some 400 people at the Filipino Refugee Community Settlement Scheme (SPMP) in Kampung Muslim, here, underwent Covid-19 testing following “Ops Bersih” conducted Sunday.
Labuan Health Department Director Dr Ismuni Bohari said the mass screening using Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) was to identify undetected positive cases in the densely-populated settlement.
“We cannot afford to have repetitive cases in the refugee settlement as this will have an adverse impact (Covid-19 wider spreads) to the local community.

The Labuan field hospital which received the first group of patients yesterday.
LABUAN: The first group of 60 categories three and four Covid-19 patients were transferred to the newly-opened field hospital at Labuan Corporation’s multipurpose hall, here, Sunday.
The patients are from various active clusters, including several prisoners from the Labuan Correctional Centre’s cluster of Tembok Labuan.
The setting up of the field hospital was first announced by Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on June 19.

The field hospital has a capacity of 100 beds, including four beds in the transit intensive care unit (ICU), with eight doctors and 30 paramedics, as well as the support of Mercy Malaysia.
