It’s been less than a week since that age group became eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, so raw numbers are not yet available, but Health Officer Linda Vail says there have been lots of happy parents and youngsters getting their first dose of vaccine.
Vail cites a clinic at East Lansing High School shortly after the new guidelines were announced. “We had 150 appointments scheduled before that announcement was made, she states, and we ended up vaccinating about 275 people, I think, last I knew.”
“There have been many, many happy parents and happy 12 to 15-year-olds to finally be eligibly vaccinated, Vail concludes. That, most likely like the others, will wane off.”

The Leavenworth Times
The Lansing school district will finish the school year by offering in-person instruction five days per week for elementary and intermediate school students.
Middle school and high school students will only have in-person classes four days a week.
This is a plan that was approved Monday by the Lansing Board of Education.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lansing public schools have been offering students the option this year of in-person classes or remote instruction.
Students enrolled in in-person instruction previously attended classes four days a week and everyone had remote instruction each Friday.
