LG Group s young chairman Koo Kwang-mo is proving his leadership skills, as he enters his fourth year as chief of the conglomerate. Koo has taken drastic steps to reorganize LG s portfolio, including pulling out of the smartphone business.
Koo drew attention when he took the helm of the group on June 29, 2018, given he was only 40. He was considered by many as lacking experience to head a conglomerate of LG s magnitude. Koo, however, is assessed to be taking Korea s fourth largest group on a stable trajectory for future growth, taking unexpectedly bold measures for LG, long known for its conservative, stability-seeking culture.
