Preceptor Pi holds officer elections At the March 2 meeting of Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Susan Coulson received a Founders Day information packet. A note was read from Susan thanking the chapter for the honor of being selected our 2021 Valentine Queen. A Beta Brief from the Torch entitled “Overcoming Depression” was given by Lois Johnson. All the collected blankets were delivered to Rosewood and Judy Krebaum reported how grateful the couple was when she gave them the donation from the chapter. Jeri Brozek reported with everything happening it might be better to postpone the trip to Pawhuska until later in the spring or early summer. Lois Johnson gave the program on natural remedies for keeping your memory sharp.

Preceptor Pi donates blankets Preceptor Pi met on Feb. 2 at the Farmers Bank and Trust meeting room. An article was read by Lois Johnson entitled “Overcoming Adversity.” The service committee bought blankets for the Rosewood Blanket Drive for foster children, Rosie Lithi will deliver them to Rosewood. An idea was presented for a trip to Pawhuska, Okla. to see the Pioneer Women’s Mercantile and other places.  Susan Coulson was crowned Valentine Queen. Judy Krebaum gave the program on the history of Valentine Cards and showed how they have changed over the years.

On Monday, the Hudson County Board of Commissioners passed the first draft of an ordinance limiting total public comment time to two hours, after listening to nine hours of opposition to renewing their jail contract with ICE.

Bernard 'Ben' Hanson | Obituaries | messagemedia.co

Bernard “Ben” Allan Hanson, 87, passed away Dec. 15, 2020 at New Perspectives Assisted Living in Cloquet surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 21, 1933 to Albert and Julia (Blegen) Hanson. He grew up in the Aitkin area, attending schools in Thor and Aitkin, graduating in 1952. After graduation he worked on several farms in North Dakota. Ben worked as a lineman in Denver, Colorado before being drafted into the Army June 9, 1954. He was stationed in France and honorably discharged May 16, 1956. Following the service, Ben returned to high line construction, working for various contractors throughout the Midwest. During lay-offs, he worked the ore boats on the Great Lakes and cut pulp wood.
