Granite Pass Complex fires grow to more than 3,000 total acres

The combined acreage of the fires in the Granite Pass Complex has grown to 3,017 with one percent containment as of Sunday, according to an update from the Northern Rockies Region of the Lolo National Forest.
Weather conditions along with the dry condition of dead and down fuels will allow the firesâburning on the west side of Highway 12 near the Lolo Pass Visitor Centerâto remain active on the western slopes on Sunday.
The BM Hill fire is displaying the most active fire behavior with single and group tree torching and long-range spotting out half mile from the fire. The Lolo Creek fire is holding within control lines but remains active along the southern perimeter.

LOLO PASS â The Granite Pass Complex fires burning in the area of Lolo Pass have seen little recent growth.
The lightning-sparked blazes have burned a little over 1,700 acres and remain 0% contained.
Crews are continuing to work on protection measures around Lolo Hot Springs, Granite Hot Springs and the Lolo Pass Visitor Center.
Fire managers note the Lolo Creek fire is expected to impact US Highway 12 at any time and is expected to jump the road as it moves to the east.

A previously issued evacuation warning remains in effect for residences between the Idaho border and Lolo Hot Springs in the area of Highway 12.

The Granite Pass Complex of fires near the Lolo Pass area has grown to 1,645 acres, according to a Sunday afternoon update on InciWeb.
Planned actions for Sunday included assessing and preparing infrastructure along the Highway 12 corridor and developing a traffic control plan for the highway, as well as scouting and developing contingency plans.
An evacuation warning from the Idaho border to Lolo Hot Springs remains in effect. Residents and visitors in the area should stay vigilant and be ready to immediately leave the area if an evacuation order is issued. Anyone traveling along Highway 12 is asked not to stop.
