Third Wave: 727 New Cases of Covid-19 Confirmed By Mike Gilmore The National Public Health Emergency Team highlighted a worsening situation as case numbers began to climb again. 311 of the latest cases are in Dublin, with concerns that the rate of infection was growing at rate not seen since March. Chair of the NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, Professor Philip Nolan, detailed the increasing averages. In Dublin the five day moving average has gone from 89 cases per day to 227 per day since last Monday the 14th of December.  So more than doubling in the capital in the space of one week, giving us a very rapid growth rate indeed.
