Bianca Saunders: I am a London girl from South East. It’s as suburban as London gets: lots of green space, and away from the party. I’ve always worked collaboratively. It’s how I get inspired, by bouncing ideas off of other creatives. My work nods to my British and West Indian heritage, my family, but then through collaborating with people who are from lots of different backgrounds, both creatively and culturally I can present it through a different lens. I try to address the tension between tradition and evolution in my designs by referencing classic streetwear and avant-garde couture. The aim is to augment the otherwise straightforward deconstruction of classic men’s wear. A design signature of mine is “captured motion”: I experiment with draping to capture a movement, a moment, a feeling.
