Lead actors in Salt-N-Pepa biopic describe portraying 1st ladies of hip-hop

Rolling out sat down with the leading ladies of Lifetime‘s biopic “Salt-N-Pepa” to learn how they brought to life the iconic, Grammy Award-winning, first ladies of hip-hop. Actress Laila Odom talked about what it was like for her to be cast as Pepa over Egypt Criss, the real Pepa’s (Sandra Denton) daughter. GG Townson, who portrayed Salt, went into detail about what it was like getting one-on-one coaching by the real Salt (Cheryl James). The ladies also recounted their personal experiences while filming in Canada, including working with director Mario Van Peebles, casting director Lea Daniels-Butler and much more.
