Sheeran faces stiff competition if he has his sights set on the Christmas number one spot.
LadBaby is currently tipped for the UK’s official Christmas number one with Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, according to The Official Charts Company.
The occupant of the number one slot will be revealed on BBC Radio One on Christmas Day but preliminary sales and early streaming reports put LadBaby in front.
LadBaby – YouTuber Mark Hoyle, and his wife Roxanne Hoyle – have topped the charts for the last two years at Christmas, with 2018’s We Built This City… On Sausage Rolls and last year’s I Love Sausage Rolls.
Ed Sheeran Drops New Song Afterglow Monday, 21 December 2020
Following an Instagram teaser, Ed Sheeran has dropped a surprise new single.
Afterglow is the first new offering from the singer-songwriter since the release of his star-studded ’No.6 Collaborations Project’, which landed in summer 2019 and boasts collaborations with Eminem, 50 Cent, Travis Scott, Khalid, Stormzy, Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello and Cardi B.
The track is a heartfelt, folk-tinged pop ballad led by acoustic guitar and layered vocals. However, Sheeran made it clear in another Instagram post that this is not a preview of a new record, just a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you.
“
The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see more of the world,” Sheeran shared in a post on Instagram at the time.
“I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. I’ll be off all social media until it’s time to come back.”
Staying true to his word, Sheeran stayed away from social media and only returned briefly to announce the birth of his bub
Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
Singer Ed Sheeran will reportedly be releasing new music today after going on a break late last year.
The ‘Shape of You’ star posted a picture on Instagram on December 20 with the caption: “11am GMT tomorrow. A Christmas present.”
On December 24, 2019, the singer-songwriter had announced that he would be going on “another break”, following his hiatus in 2016.
“I’ve been a bit non-stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. I’ll be off all social media until it’s time to come back. To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing,” he wrote on Instagram. “I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.”
