The investigation officer scrutinised the evidence and recommended that departmental action be taken against SP Masud, said Lt Col Ashiq Billah, director of Rapid Action Battalion s legal and media wing, at a press conference held at Rab s media centre yesterday. The officer found him [Masud] to be negligent in his duties and unprofessional. He did not visit the spot when former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das called him to report Sinha s death, which he should have; nor did he ensure emergency medical attention for Maj (retd) Sinha, said Billah.

Sinha was killed pre-planned to hide Pradeep’s felonies: RAB 648 DHAKA, Dec 13, 2020 (BSS) –Retired army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan was killed in a preplanned way, Director of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Media and Legal Wing Lieutenant Colonel Ashique Billah said at a press briefing in the capital this noon. “The Sinha murder probe revealed that prime accused suspended officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das was involved in the killing to cover up his (Pradeep) different felonies, including yaba peddling and other illegal activities in his Cox’s Bazar jurisdiction,” he said, adding that RAB pressed charges against 15 people, including Pradeep in the case.

Cox’s Bazar court dismisses petition challenging Sinha murder case Liaqat Ali Star Online Report Star Online Report A Cox s Bazar court today dismissed a revision petition filed by Liaqat Ali, suspended inspector of Baharchhara Investigation Centre, challenging the legality of the Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case filed by the victim s sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous. After holding a full hearing on the petition, Mohammad Ismail, Judge of Cox s Bazar District and Session judge s court,passed the order, our Cox s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Public Prosecutor of the court Faridul Alam.  Read more:

Sinha murder case: Rab presses charges against ex-OC Pradeep, 14 others

The other charge-sheeted accused included Baharchhara Investigation Centre s Inspector Liaqat Ali,  Sub-inspector Nandadulal Rakshit and constables Safanur Karim, Abdullah Al Mamun and Mohammad Mostafa; Armed Police Battalion s Sub-inspector Mohammad Shahjahan and constables Md Rajib and Mohammad Abdullah; Teknaf Police Station s constables Rubel Sharma and Sagar Deb; and three villagers of Maroshbunia village Nurul Amin, Mohammad Ayaz and Nejamuddin. Among the 15 accused, Pradeep is now in Chattogram district jail, 13 are in Cox s Bazar jail while Constable Sagar Deb is on the run.  Superintendent of Police in Cox s Bazar ABM Masud Hossain, however, was not formally indicted.  The investigation officer recommended that departmental action be taken against him [SP Masud], said Lt Col Ashiq Billah.
