New industry improves a regions economic power by delivering immediate jobs and jobs in related areas that support that industry.
Jobs growth helps an economy in regards to money being spent in the local community supporting local businesses that can create more jobs as small businesses grow with demand.
Towns and regions that have good industry and job opportunities have a strong housing market where property valuations improve due to demand.
Property values are protected from declining and impacting our retirement plans providing a community with hope into the future.
Housing demand will go up as job opportunities increase and this can put pressure on available rental properties as the Rockhampton region is experiencing now with various projects.

Rockhampton voters will be spoilt for choice when they go to a by-election on Saturday, January 23 with a record 17 candidates vying for the city s top job.

Subscriber only Leyland Barnett, one of 17 candidates for Rockhampton mayor, revealed his vision for improving the region should he be elected. He defined three main policies, the first being a freeze on any increase to council rates for 12 months, and reducing the operational costs of the council itself. He said the rates freeze would give people some relief with the COVID virus and help people get back on their feet, especially when we re looking at JobSeeker being removed and JobKeeper being removed as well . How we can achieve that is looking at reducing operating costs in council and looking at reducing legal costs and focusing more on mediation and a reduction on the use of consultants, he said.
