Man charged with attacking woman, injuring baby

EDWARDSVILLE An Alton man faces several felony charges after allegedly punching someone in the face and injuring a 3-month-old baby.
Thomas L. Riggins, 43, of the 8800 block of Blue Ridge Drive, Alton, was charged with domestic battery (second subsequent offense, a Class 4 felony; and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.
The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
According to court documents, on Feb. 14 Riggins punched a family or household member in the face. It was noted he had a prior conviction for domestic battery out of Madison County in 2019. He also pulled the arm of a 3-month-old child, injuring the baby. Bail was set at $120,000.

Vehicle theft
A vehicle was taken in the 10800 block of Hillbrooke Lane between 1:30 and 10:05 a.m. on Jan. 31. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a spare key inside. It was recovered the same day.

Thefts from vehicles
Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between 10 p.m. on Feb. 4 and 9 a.m. on Feb. 5. Affected streets included Vale Street, Lenhart Drive, Leland Street and Winnett Road.
Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Jan. 29 and Feb. 5. Affected streets included Battery and Hampden lanes. Force was reported.
Thefts from vehicles
Money and property were taken from four vehicles between Jan. 10 and 16. Affected streets included Pomander Lane, Leland Street and Meadowbrook Lane. Force was reported in one case.
Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Jan. 12 and 16. Affected streets included Kensington Parkway, Brierly Road and Dupont Avenue. Force was reported in one case.
Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Jan. 6 and 16. Affected streets included Chevy Chase Drive, Earlston Drive, Allan Road, River Road, Crescent Street, Wakefield Road, Wriley Road and the area of Bradley Boulevard and Wellington Drive. Force was reported in two cases.
