VA to open new health care clinic in Adrian The Daily Telegram ADRIAN Later this year, veterans in Lenawee County seeking Veterans Affairs health care services will have a much shorter distance to travel. The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System announced this week the location of a new Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at 770 Riverside Ave. in Adrian. Once complete, the 2,500-square-foot clinic will serve veterans in Lenawee and surrounding counties and will provide primary care, mental health, social work, dietetics and blood draw services to more than 3,000 local veterans, a news release said. Once renovations of the leased space are complete, the clinic is expected to open late this coming summer or in the fall, the release said. The site was chosen based on many factors including a demonstrated need to serve more veterans in the Lenawee County area.

Tecumseh sells Hayden-Ford Mill to restaurant developers from Jackson

The Daily Telegram TECUMSEH  Redeveloping the former Tecumseh Community Center into a restaurant, brewery and banquet hall took a large step forward Monday when the city council agreed to sell the building to a Jackson-based development company.  If everything goes according to plan, within about three years the Hayden-Ford Mill Building on East Chicago Boulevard next to Globe Mill Pond will be a restaurant similar to Zehnder’s or the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. The purchase agreement the Tecumseh City Council approved requires the developer to obtain a certificate of occupancy for the rehabilitated and remodeled building within three years of closing the sale. 

Daybreak Adult Day Services of Adrian celebrates 20 years in operation

By Tammy Jewell In 2000, the federal government allocated funds for organizations to start up Adult Day Service programs. At that time, Gerontology Network based in Grand Rapids was already providing services in Lenawee County, allowing them to be the initial supporting agency. Under the leadership of Gerontology Network and visionary members such as Myra Goddard and Tom MacNaughton, Daybreak Adult Day Services was able to welcome participants to a newly renovated space on U.S. 223 on March 9, 2001.  The intent of a day program was to provide caregivers an additional support system, while at the same time, providing purpose to each individual enrolled. By offering additional support, family caregivers could add leisure to their daily lives, lessening the challenges that are known to be associated with the role of caregiving.
