Earlier this month, Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services updated its guidelines regarding eating out, mandating that patrons dining together be restricted to.
The state revised separate orders dictating workplace pandemic requirements on Monday as well. Whitmer previously pledged to roll back a rule that required remote work wherever possible. In addition to nixing that regulation, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration also outlined broader changes to help employers safely allow employees to come back to work in person.
By July 1, Whitmer says the health department will rescind essentially all pandemic regulations.
Critics pounced on the photo of Whitmer, noting it as another example of the governor seemingly flouting pandemic orders or recommendations.
In March, Whitmer flew to Florida to see her ailing father during a time when federal and state health officials generally discouraged nonessential travel. She has defended the trip, but her office refused to provide details about her travel for weeks. Several high-ranking members of her administration also traveled during approximately the same time.
Kept Their Own Pandemic Rules? Mon May 24, 2021 Governor Whitmer is apologizing for breaking her own pandemic rules. Again. More accurately, like Governor Newsom in California, she s apologizing for getting caught. The last time it was her husband s boat. Last Monday, Whitmer announced that she was lifting some lockdown restrictions in areas before Memorial Day weekend. But “if you don’t live in these regions … think long and hard before you take a trip into them,” she said. “A small spike could put the hospital system in dire straits pretty quickly. That’s precisely why we’re asking everyone to continue doing their part. Don’t descend on [waterfront] Traverse City from all regions of the state.”
