NAIA Regional Award Winners For 2021 Indoor Season ::: USTFCCCA

  Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards. Many of these honored athletes and coaches are headed to the  2021 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships next week in Yankton, South Dakota. Men’s Track Athlete of the Year GREAT LAKES REGION – Landon Miller – Indiana Wesleyan Miller, a senior from Goshen, Indiana, is ranked first nationally in both the mile at 4:08.42c (4:11.59f) and 5000 at 14:18.08c (14:27.27f). He is also second nationally in the 3000 at 8:16.29c (8:22.06f). Miller won both the mile and 5000 at the Crossroads League Indoor Championships.

Indiana Wesleyan and No. 5 Saint Mary (Kan.) reside in the top-5. The Wildcats are the lone change in the top-5, as they improved three spots from its No. 7. Indiana Wesleyan earned six new or improved marks that rank in the top-5 nationally. Landon Miller in the mile (No. 1, 4:08.42c/4:11.59) and the 5000 (14:18.08/14:27.27); Steven Ott in the 1000 (No. 3, 2:27.42c/2:29.45) and 800 (No. 4, 1:53.35c/1:54.97); Scott Rathbun in the pole vault (No. 3, 4.90m/16-¾); Charlie Young in the 600 (No. 4, 1:19.93c/1:21.13). Three teams made jumps into the top-10: No. 8 Oklahoma City (up 13 spots), No. 9 Bethel (Kan.) (up 5 spots) and No. 10 Marian (Ind.) (up 6 spots). The Stars improved upon season bests in the 5000:

NAIA ITF National Athletes of the Week (Feb 24) ::: USTFCCCA

The NAIA National Office announced its sixth National Athletes of the Week selections for the 2021 indoor track & field season on Wednesday. Landon Miller of Indiana Wesleyan was named Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after winning both the mile and 5000 in meet records times at the Crossroads League Indoor Championships this past weekend. Miller went 4:11.59 in the mile and hit 14:27.27 in the 5000. Taylor Bottomley of Central Methodist (Mo.) was named Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week after winning both the shot put and weight throw at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships this past weekend. Bottomley hit 16.81m (55-2) in the shot put and 19.03m (62-5¼) in the weight throw.
