An expected 14,000-person boost to Sarnia’s population over the next 30 years means the municipality should consider building new residential developments on research and business park lands in the city’s east, a new report says.
The largely vacant lands surrounding the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park could accommodate most of the needed residential lands – roughly 75 of the 78 hectares – if Sarnia’s estimated population grows to 88,704 in three decades time, as projected by consultant urbanMetrics Inc.
