Starting Monday, April 12, the city of Lakewood is once again enforcing parking restrictions in zones marked as rush hour parking. Lakewood defines rush hour as Monday through Friday, 7 to 9:30 a.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. Rush hour parking enforcement had been suspended since March 2020. The Lakewood Police Department decided to resume enforcement as traffic creeps up to normal volume.

Officers involved in the Sept. 3 shooting of a Portland activist described a tense atmosphere and a chaotic scene caused by communication problems, according to investigation documents newly released April 6. In reports written after the shooting, the officers said they were warned by their superiors that Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was armed, and a friend allegedly had told police Reinoehl would not be taken alive. Several task force members said they experienced problems with their radios that made it difficult to coordinate in the moments leading up to the shooting.
