Share Reeves is an icon in the local art scene and has been ever since he was a young boy growing up in Winter Garden. To step into Rod Reeves’ house is to enter the personal museum of an eclectic artist. Rooms are filled with paintings, sketches and mirrors in ornate frames; stained-glass windows and Tiffany-inspired lighting; a wide section of tapestry from an old coat of arms; intricately designed Asian divider panels; silver candlestick holders; and clocks of varying sizes and styles. Every piece on Reeves’ walls has special meaning, from his father’s barbering scissors and leather strop to his grandfather’s carpentry saw to the metal base of his mother’s iron. Many other items were given to him as gifts.

Jan 31, 2021 Sean and Kellie Ruane of Howland are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Michaela Nicole, to John James Graham, son of James and Claudia Graham of Cortland. Miss Ruane is a 2010 graduate of Howland High School and received a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from Kent State University in 2014. She graduated from Cleveland State University in 2016 with a master’s degree in psychology, and a specialty in school psychology in 2017. Miss Ruane is employed as a school psychologist with the Mahoning County Educational Service Center. Dr. Graham graduated valedictorian in 2006 from Lakeview High School. He graduated summa cum laude in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences with a minor in chemistry from the University of Akron. Partnership continues focus on student emotional, mental health Chronic absenteeism symptom of broader issue, leaders say All districts As more knowledge and resources become available, the Kent County School-Justice Partnership continues to prioritize the physical, emotional and mental health of students.  Mandated by then-Gov. Rick Snyder in 2013, the Kent School-Justice Partnership works to keep children in school to combat the high-school dropout-to-prison pipeline. As one of the key leaders, Kent County Circuit Court judge Kathleen Feeney believes the partnership’s approach to keeping students in school has become more actively trauma-informed in the last 10 years, resulting from more conversations about students’ lives outside of school. 

Thomas George Mustapic

Peacefully at his home on Friday, December 18th, Thomas George Mustapic, age 61 passed away in the arms of his loving family after a difficult battle with ALS. Tom was born in Port Arthur to Ruth and George and attended Vance Chapman and Lakeview High School. He graduated from Lakehead University in 1982 and obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation. He worked at The City of Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, retiring in 2014. Tom was a valued member of the Board’s senior leadership team and was proud of his contributions to Catholic education in Thunder Bay. Tom was a true gentleman and was admired and respected by all who met him. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. He was a wonderful husband and father and always put his family first.
