Sgt. Darren Kakuno This past week February 22 through February 28, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 55 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to. No injuries in two-vehicle crash at Windermere On Monday, February 22 at 9:15 a.m. emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 93/95 and Windermere Road in Windermere. The driver of a northbound Chevrolet pickup was unable to avoid a collision with a Volvo XC60, which attempted to make a left turn onto the highway. No injuries were reported. The driver of the Volvo was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield on a left turn.

Weather officials say an EF-1 tornado briefly touched down in Clayton County, as a line of storms moved through the metro Atlanta area early Monday morning.  According to a National Weather Service survey team, the tornado is believed to have touched down minutes after 6 a.m. along Bethsaida Road, near the intersection of Lakefield Forrest Drive. The weather agency said that the tornado had maximum sustained winds of 90 mph.  Crews said they saw several trees uprooted or snapped next to some homes, and several power lines were brought down. It s then believed the tornado continued southeast - where it reached max intensity as it crossed Fayetteville Road. That s where crews found more snapped and uprooted trees, some of which fell onto homes along Bethaven Road and Zebulun Court. T

On Monday, the 35-year-old employment specialist with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe took the oath of office to become the at-large Council member, representing each of the city s five wards. The swearing-in ceremony comes after Jourdain defeated Dave Larson in a February special election.
